Modifications were required to the tie-in from the Flinders Below Water Table (FBWT) tailings pipeline to the S12 Tails spigot.

  • The arrangement had proven to be unsuitable due to high wear occurring in the tee which was leading to premature failure. Due to the criticality, the changeover was only possible during an OPF shutdown.
  • PARC provided a site team to implement the alternative design which had been developed to remove the functionality to switch flow between each pipeline but will lead to longer continuous operation of each line.
  • The tee was replaced with a continuous connection from the FBWT line to the S12 spigot when tails deposition is to be directed to S12.
  • The scope was successfully completed, on time, without incident and a successful shutdown handback.
